Progress Update - Film Opening Editing (Transition Effects)

Today I have worked on the editing of my film, after putting all my clips together I decided its time to start smoothing things out, and try make it seem like an actual film opening. Although at first I was unsure on how to do this i soon learnt and got to grasps with how to do transitions and other effects.

Below is a screen grab of me doing so:

Audience Feedback on Ideas

I have requested some audience feedback, from some of my fellow students at DCSCH. My chosen way of conducting it is e-mail due to the efficiency and professional structure of the system.

So far the feedback on my ideas has been 100% positive.

However I have also received some verbal feedback on which people picked up on:

  • I should have made it clearer on what shots I will use / where on the storyboard
  • My storyline even though it flows, its not too extensive
  • The logo could be sharpened up a bit, in terms of quality of the image.
Most of this feedback can be addressed fairly easily and things can be adjusted, although I am not planning to change the layout of my story as I feel it would no longer be what I am going for.

Actor Organisation

Thankfully due to the nature of my idea I do not require a complicated or vast amount of actors, I only require one person to fill the role of the main character, who is the only character in my film.

The actor who I have decided to give the role to, and who was suitable for the role is Sam Andrew.

Risk Assessment

I have done a simple risk assessment for the recording of my short film opening, due to my idea not being to risky or extensive there is not many risks that we would be under while recording, therefore I gave covered it in a more broad way.

Setting and Location

I have considered and found a filming location for my video opening, since my film is a drama which heavily focuses on the idea of a young guy running away from the everyday issues to go travel and live in the wild, in one with the nature, unhindered by everyday life issues, I had to find a location which looks very rural and naturalistic.

So I have gone with a nearby place locally known as the “Pit Top”
